The Founder

Steve Patton has a long career in the hedge fund industry. His most notable work was helping in the early formation of Stark Investments, now one of the most successful hedge funds in the world. Steve began working with Stark in 1991 and by 1993 had assumed the role of head trader. As the "first" employee of Stark Investments, Steve oversaw a fund whose managed assets quintupled and whose returns far outperformed any benchmark.

Steve briefly left the industry in the late-90's to pursue a graduate degree while at the same time training to become a professional triathlete. Though a debilitating injury curtailed the latter, his graduate studies proceeded smoothly. He had enrolled in the Masters of Quantitative Finance program at the University of Wisconsin - one of the first math/finance programs in the country - and went on to earn nearly twice the credits needed for graduation.

Upon receiving his quant degree in 2000, rather than join an existing fund he decided to apply his experience and theoretical knowledge by creating Patton Investments.

Steve graduated from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School in 1989. Not only was he a standout student (Dean's List most semesters) but he also rowed all 4 years for Penn's Heavyweight Crew earning a letter on a National Championship team.
